My story
Over a decade of looking after homes.
I've been working in family homes for more than ten years. I started out cleaning, but the work always grew, because once a family knows you, they trust you with more. The laundry. The school bags. The fridge before the weekend. The plants while they were away. Whatever was making the week harder than it needed to be.
I worked for a family in Belgravia for three years as their housekeeper, and I worked with a doctor's family for years doing meals, organising, deep cleaning, the lot. That's the work I love. Getting to know a home, getting to know the family, and making sure it's all running the way you'd want it to.
Essence is the version of that work I'm building for local families in Sutton and around.
How I work
The reason families stay.
Same person, every visit. It's just me, every week. No rota, no agency. Once we've settled into a rhythm, you don't need to manage anything. You go to work. I'm here.
Trust above everything. I'm letting myself into your home, around your kids' things, into your family's space. I take that seriously, and I treat your home the way I'd want someone to treat mine.
I notice what needs doing. You don't have to leave me a list. After a couple of weeks I know what your house needs and I just get on with it. If something is different that week, you tell me. Otherwise, leave it with me.
Consistent and reliable. Same day, same time, every week. I plan my diary around my families so you can plan yours around me.
A few things about me
The bits that aren't on a CV.
I'm based in Sutton, in the SM2 area. I work Monday to Friday and I cover roughly a 30-minute drive from home, so anywhere from Cheam through to Wimbledon and over to Cobham depending on the day.
I'm fully self-employed, with my own insurance. I'm DBS-checked. I've worked with families with toddlers, families with teenagers, families with pets, families that are at home and families that are out all day. I've seen most things.
I don't do oven cleaning, because the chemicals are stronger than I'm comfortable with, but I have someone good I can recommend if you need it. Same with carpets and sofas. I've built up a list of trusted local specialists over the years and I'm happy to share their numbers.
